Design and Layout

There are two major parts to the Design and Layout section; zine & chapbook, and paperback. The zine and chapbook area doesn't go into as much detail as the paperback, so if the zine and chapbook section seems a little light go check out the paperback section, if the paperback section is too overwhelming go to the zine & chapbook part for more simplified explanations. Neither of the sections is going to give you a comprehensive study in design. Not even close by a mile. All you're going to get is some tips and pointers. Graphic design is a skill and requires a lot training and practice, that means you probably have to go to school to to get really good at it. I'll try and help you fake it though.

Both of these sections are for intended DIY printing and binding methods. If you are getting your publication professionally printed and bound, I recommend getting a professional to design and layout your book. If you are going to fork out the big money to get your book printed, you really shouldn't be laying it out in MS Word and doing a hack job on the cover.
