'Malört & Savior' Join Kat Abughazaleh As Part Of 'Guerrilla Press' Debut
Indivisible Chicago Northwest will also be in attendance for this politics meets punk rock party
Punk rock and politics collide on Sunday night, January 18, at the debut live podcast recording of Guerrilla Press, the first-of-its-kind show from Chicago’s legendary improv comedy theater, The Annoyance.
Malört & Savior, Chicago’s premier Malört-preaching pop-punk rock band, has officially been added to the line-up, alongside Illinois Congressional 9th District candidate, Kat Abughazaleh, who will participate in a no-holds-barred, live, on-stage interview with hosts and comedians, EJ Cameron and Nick Hausman.
“This is what political engagement should look like: loud, fun, and a little uncomfortable for the people in power,” said Abughazaleh, “I’m thrilled to kick off Guerrilla Press with people who believe that showing up matters and that organizing doesn’t have to be boring. I’m excited to be part of something that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but takes democracy very seriously.”
The party-friendly band already has some history with Abughazaleh, having headlined two of her previous campaign events.
“Malört & Savior is a punk rock band you can’t take home to mom. Because your mom will fall in love with them and they aren’t ready for that kind of commitment,” the band responded when asked for comment. Adding, “Finally, a group of dogs who can get along with a Kat.”
Beyond Abughazaleh, the celebration of activism will also include representation from Indivisible Chicago Northwest. ICNW Political Action Director Kristen Vandawalker will be available before and after the show to greet the audience and discuss with them how they can stay engaged during a pivotal 2026 midterm year.
“We want Guerrilla Press to be a regular space for Chicagoans to have fun, hear from influential voices, and find ways to stay active,” said co-host Hausman. “Having Kat involved in our debut was already hugely exciting. Infusing Malort & Savior plus Indivisible Chicago Northwest into the mix has taken this night to the next level. LET’S HAVE A PARTY!”
Tickets for Guerrilla Press are now available at TheAnnoyance.com.
The full audio and video from each live podcast recording will be uploaded to the Guerrilla Press podcast feed and YouTube channel every Monday, with additional content published on those channels throughout the week.
